Privacy

This site is thunderclapmurphy.com. It is run by Aidan Murphy, who performs as Thunderclap Murphy, based in Dublin, Ireland. For anything on this page, write to bookings@thunderclapmurphy.com.

This policy explains what personal data the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to meet the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Irish data protection law. Aidan Murphy is the data controller.

What is collected, and why

Booking and commission enquiries. If you send an enquiry through the form on the Bookings and Commissions page, the details you enter, typically your name, email address, and what you write, are stored on this site and sent by email. They are used to answer you and to arrange a booking. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.

Newsletter. If you sign up to the newsletter, your email address, and your name if you give it, are held by Kit (formerly ConvertKit), which sends the emails. The legal basis is your consent. Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw consent at any time without giving a reason.

Analytics. This site uses Google Analytics, via the Site Kit plugin, to count visits and see which pages are read. This involves cookies and processing of usage data, including a truncated IP address, by Google. The legal basis is your consent. It is used only to understand how the site is being used.

Server logs. The hosting provider keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. The legal basis is legitimate interest in the security and availability of the site.

Nothing on this site is sold, rented, or traded. No profiling or automated decision-making takes place.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file a site stores on your device. This site uses cookies for basic functioning, and analytics cookies where you have consented to them. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some things may behave differently.

Who else sees your data

Only the services needed to run the site:

  • Kit (formerly ConvertKit) — newsletter delivery.
  • Google — analytics.
  • The hosting provider — storage of the site and its database.

Each acts as a processor on instructions, or as a controller in its own right where its own terms apply. Some of these are outside the European Economic Area, in which case transfers rely on the safeguards those providers put in place, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long data is kept

Booking enquiries are kept as long as they are useful for the working relationship, and are deleted when they no longer are. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics retention settings. Ask if you want anything removed sooner.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected or erased, ask for its use to be restricted or object to it, ask for it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis. To do any of these, write to bookings@thunderclapmurphy.com. There is no charge and you will get a reply within one month.

If you are not satisfied with how a request is handled, you can complain to the Irish supervisory authority, the Data Protection Commission.
