Charlie Byrne’s has been a fixture of Galway’s book trade for decades, filling the Cornstore with room after room of new, used and remaindered titles — well over a hundred thousand of them at last count. Irish writing, poetry and secondhand paperbacks sit beside new releases and heavily reduced hardbacks, and the staff are known for finding the book you can only half describe. Browsing is free, and nobody rushes you out.
