Killarney National Park

The native oak and yew woods of Killarney National Park are of national and international importance, and the park holds the country’s only surviving indigenous herd of red deer. Reenadinna is the largest yew woodland in Western Europe, a Special Area of Conservation in its own right, with trees estimated at two to two and a half centuries old. UNESCO designates the whole park a Biosphere Reserve.

There is pedestrian access 24 hours a day, year round, and parking is free. Mossy Woods, the Old Kenmare Road, the Dundag to Torc path and Derricunnihy Church are among the marked walks. Dogs are welcome on a lead. Fires and camping are not permitted anywhere in the park.
