Dunsany Nature Reserve

Randal Plunkett took the land at Dunsany out of agricultural production and stopped managing it, and the estate has been filling back in with woodland, scrub and wetland ever since. It is the largest private rewilding project in the country, and it is ecological rather than ornamental. Nothing is being landscaped. The point is what arrives when you stop.

This is a working private reserve, not a park, so you cannot simply turn up. Rewilding tours are arranged by email through the reserve, and they run seasonally in small groups. Confirm before you travel.
