Irish Writers Centre

The Irish Writers Centre occupies a listed house on Parnell Square dating to the 1760s, a few minutes from O’Connell Street and keeping most of its original features. It has hosted Seamus Heaney, Paul Muldoon, Anne Enright and Sally Rooney, and its Benedict Kiely Room, with its plasterwork ceilings, looks straight out over the Garden of Remembrance.

It runs an academy of courses and masterclasses, a national mentoring programme, one-to-one mentoring and residencies, and it keeps a public calendar of readings, launches and talks. Its resources for writers are free and open: literary journals, competitions and submissions, a directory of writing groups, and a starter pack for writers working in Irish. Membership is optional and cheap.

Office hours are Monday to Thursday, 10am to 5pm. Events run beyond them.
