Twenty acres of conservation gardens and heritage orchards outside Scariff, holding the National Irish Heritage Apple Tree collection: more than a hundred and eighty apple varieties gathered from across the whole island.

That collection is an archive that happens to be made of trees, and like any archive it is only useful if people come to it. Public days through the year include the Community Seed Share in February, Biodiversity Week in May, Heritage Week in August, and orchard tasting tours in September. Workshops on organic growing run year-round.

Open weekdays, ten to four. The orchards are the reason to come, and September is when they give something back.
