Persepolis

Persepolis follows a bookish, rebellious girl coming of age in Tehran during and after the 1979 revolution, in a family of outspoken, left-leaning parents. Satrapi tells it with punk-rock adolescence and dark humour, then follows herself as a teenager sent alone to Europe. The 2007 animated film she co-directed shared the Cannes Jury Prize and earned an Academy Award nomination.
