Poetry Ireland

Poetry Ireland is the national organisation for poetry, and since May 2026 it has been at No. 11 Parnell Square East, a Georgian house reopened after a €5.5 million restoration and now an all-island venue and resource centre for poets and readers. The front door faces the main entrance of the Garden of Remembrance.

The building holds the Seamus Heaney Poetry Library, built around the late laureate’s own private library, bequeathed by his family, along with the Austin Clarke collection and forty years of contemporary poetry gathered by the organisation. Readings and events run through the year, and the wider programme reaches into schools through Writers in Schools and into the calendar through Poetry Day Ireland.

The Luas Green Line stops at Parnell, four minutes’ walk. Access arrangements are worth reading before a first visit, and worth confirming, since the building has changed.
