A Fire Story

A wildfire took Brian Fies’s house in a single October night in 2017. He started drawing within days, and the webcomic he posted travelled the world before he expanded it into this book. It stays close to the practical facts of losing everything and starting over, from the insurance forms to the ash to the kindness of neighbours. An Emmy-winning animated version followed.
